Redeeming a supporter code

A code is a thank-you, not a lock. Everything it opens is extra.

Where it goes

1. Open Folio, then Settings.
2. Go to Supporter, then Redeem a Code.
3. Paste the code and tap Redeem. On a phone you can also tap the folio://redeem link in the email.

You need Folio 0.6.5 or later. Older versions have no key to check a code against and will refuse it.

What it opens

• The Market, with themes, tweaks and sources, before it opens to everyone.
• Keyd, the keyboard, which installs from the Market.
• Beta features and beta builds, which arrive a release or two early and come with more bugs. You can turn them off in Settings whenever you like.

How long it lasts

A code counts from the day you redeem it, not the day it was made, so it never goes stale waiting in an inbox. Most run for a month or two. Settings shows the day yours ends.

What it does not do

It is checked on your phone against a key inside Folio, so it works offline and tells nobody anything about you. There is no account. Nothing that has already shipped ever moves behind a code, and everything the Market hands out is already in Settings for everyone.

If it will not redeem

• Check the whole code was copied, including the last group after the final dash.
• Update Folio: a code made for a newer scheme reads as "not a Folio code" on an old build.
• If it says expired, its window has run out. Supporting again gets another.
